What to Expect at Your Appointment

Plan on 2 to 5 hours depending on length and the techniques we're using. Here's the flow:

  • Consultation. We talk about your hair history, your maintenance budget, and your inspo photos. We're honest if something isn't realistic in one session.
  • Painting and foiling. A custom blend of balayage and babylights, placed for your face shape and the way you usually wear your hair.
  • Process and tone. We watch the lift, rinse, then apply your custom gloss.
  • Root work. If you have visible regrowth, we shadow or smudge the root so it grows out invisibly.
  • Treatment. Bond-builder like K18 or another hair treatment to lock in shine and strength.
  • Cut and finish. Fresh haircut and blowout to round out the look.

Maintaining Lived-In Color at Home

Calgary climate is tough on color. Dry winters, chinooks, hard water, and intense summer UV all fade and dehydrate hair. To keep lived-in color looking fresh:

  • Wash 2 to 3 times a week with sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo.
  • Use a weekly mask or bond treatment.
  • Cool water rinses to seal the cuticle.
  • Heat protection on hot tools, no exceptions.
  • Toner refresh every 8 to 10 weeks if you go brassy.

How often do I really need to come in?

Most lived-in color clients come every 4 to 6 months for a full refresh, with a quick gloss at the 10 to 12 week mark if needed.

Is this the same as balayage?

Can lived-in color cover gray?

Is lived-in color worth the price?
